Crime Only A Problem in Labor Seats

Tuesday 15th September 2026

After Labor were recently exposed by the Coalition for allocating over 90% of invite-only grants under the MLCIP to their own seats, today it has been revealed Labor are rorting other programs across government.

Shadow Assistant Minister for Infrastructure Ben Small MP has revealed that under the Strengthening Community Safety Program, almost 93% of the funding awarded went into current, Labor-held seats.

Under the Strengthening Community Safety Program, funding was mostly allocated for security upgrades such as CCTV, lighting and other safety measures. Sounds noble enough, but it would be absurd for any Government to seriously suggest that only its own seats have a problem with crime.

Shadow Assistant Infrastructure Minister Ben Small MP said that “Nothing in these numbers passes the pub test. Labor set their own test for this expenditure in Opposition, time and time again. They have been caught red-handed now with their hand in the cookie jar, but taxpayers foot the bill for those cookies.

“Unbelievably, crime only seems to be a problem in Labor-held seats, where over 90% of the projects were funded by the Strengthening Community Safety Program were in the Labor Government’s own seats.”

Mr Small went on to say “Labor are playing us for mugs and yet wonder why Australians don’t believe a word that comes out of their mouths.”

“Don’t listen to what Labor says, look at what Labor does, and then you discover why this Government needs to be thrown out of office.”

“The Prime Minister seems to think there’s one set of rules for him and his government, and a different set of rules for everyone else.”
